Executive Summary
The German government is determined to give E-health a more importance place amongst its measures to reform the health service, it said last week. It hopes that the E-health system will be fully operational within four to five years. The government is ware of the great savings potential of the system, claiming that hospitals could make savings of up to 40% through online purchases. The extra money, it says, could be used to improve and update a range of hospital procedures. E-health will also offer the possibility of remote diagnosis and better patient documentation, it says.
