Bahrain genetic disorder clinic a possibility

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

A senior visiting doctor in Bahrain has called on the government to fund a specialist clinic to treat genetic diseases. Dr P G Natrajan from the Nanavati hospital in Bombay said that the problem of genetic disorders in Bahrain was relatively large, but that the country already had the required infrastructure and up-to-date healthcare facilities to support such a clinic. He told the Bahrain Times that the government was keen to play a role in eradicating genetic problems. The Ibn Nafees complex in Bahrain where Dr Natrajan was working already offers prenatal diagnosis and neonatal screening.
