Accumetrics is launching a platelet function device for use in interventional cardiac procedures in a catheterisation laboratory. The Ultegra system provides a point-of-care platelet function monitoring result in less than two minutes, using whole blood. It consists of a small portable instrument which uses disposable cartridges and can be used in conjunction with antiplatelet drugs such as Centocor's ReoPro (abciximab).
