Executive Summary
The mercantile health insurance group (KKH) is to set up four management centres to help improve the quality and economic efficiency of hospitals in Germany. The first centre will be established in Leipzig and one specialist will be appointed per regional hospital to monitor each hospital case from the point of admittance to the final payment. The management centres will also create more jobs and, through streamlining the inpatient sector, build up reserves to ease the burden on hospital outpatient services. A further three centres are to be established in Kiel, Koblenz and Rosenheim.
