BKK accepts change to fund balancing mechanism:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The companies' sickness fund (BKK) has finally decided to accept the ministry of health's recommendations concerning the reformation of the Risikostrukturausgleich, which aims to balance contributions to the statutory sickness funds. The BKK has refused to sign an earlier agreement, the principal stumbling block being the introduction of a minimum contribution level of 12.5%. The ministry has since agreed that the money can be used internally within the BKK to contribute to the establishment of a disease management programme for the chronically ill.
