First human implant for 4F left-heart lead:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

A US electrophysiologist has performed the first human implant of Medtronic's over-the-wire (OTW) steroid-eluting left-heart lead for delivering cardiac resynchronisation therapy in patients with heart failure. The Attain OTW lead (model 4193) has a diameter of only 4 French and is designed to facilitate placement in small and tortuous cardiac veins. Its steroid-eluting capability is designed to stabilise electrical performance. The device is being investigated as part of the Minneapolis, Minnesota company's InSync III study.
