Bausch & Lomb is to move production of its PureVision contact lenses to Waterford, Ireland, while the company appeals a decision in a patent lawsuit concerning the product. The Rochester, New York-based company has halted sales and manufacture of the lens in the US as a result of the decision. B&L maintains that its product does not infringe the patent in question (Wesley Jessen's), which it believes is invalid. The appeal process could take between six and 18 months, the company believes.
