If the German diagnosis related groups (DRG) system for hospital reimbursement is introduced in its present form, it will lead to disastrous changes in the structure of ophthalmic care, says the professional association of ophthalmologists (BVA). The BVA's concerns are the latest in a series of warnings from professional bodies and doctors' associations against the early introduction of the new system (see Clinica no 1017, p 4).
