Barely a month after their launch, the German government's disease management programmes (DMPs), aimed at providing optimum care to the chronically ill, are already facing a great challenge. The DMPs have been constantly under pressure from the moment of their conception, but the German doctors' association, the Hartmann Bund, has taken this one step further and has begun a nationwide campaign of adverts, posters and flyers calling on doctors to boycott them "in their present form".
