A prosthesis to improve voice quality after laryngectomy is among the areas of research to benefit from a £4m ($6m) boost to UK research. 26 companies will benefit from the latest funding allocated under the Eureka programme, a pan-European initiative promoting collaborative research in advanced technology, with the aim of increasing competitiveness. The programme, involving 34 member countries, is co-ordinated in the UK by the Department for Trade and Industry.
