Medical tape company Scapa UK is preparing to launch a £33m ($49m) capital investment programme, after being awarded two regional selective assistance grants totalling £4m. The six-year programme is aimed at consolidating production, growth, R&D and training at its Ashton-under-Lyne (Manchester) and Dunstable plants. The Blackburn, Lancashire company manufactures its foam-based medical and technical adhesive tapes at five sites; it also produces special compounds and cables. The two grants awarded by the Department of Trade and Industry are offered on a phased basis to support the programme.
