Abbott VP (vice-president) early resignation paves way for new team

Abbott's senior vice-president of diagnostic operations is bringing forth his retirement date in order to allow a new leadership team to resolve remaining issues relating to the company's consent decree with the FDA. Thomas Brown is retiring on July 1 2002 after 28 years' service. The company has announced a number of other appointments in the division (see page 23).
