Denmark revisits DEHP risks

Executive Summary
Denmark's PVC Information Council has rejected suggestions in a leading nation newspaper earlier this month that PVC softeners, or phthalates, in hospital products, including catheters, urine bags, blood bags and ostomy bags, could pose a direct threat to patient health. The newspaper claimed that Denmark's opposition would soon demand that hospitals to phase out equipment containing PVC and the motion was, in principle, supported by the current health minister, although he has held back from imposing a ban for lack of alternatives (see Clinica No 1008, p 8).
