The Chechen government has spent some Roubles 65 million ($2.1 million) on medical equipment and ambulances since the beginning of the year 2002. The equipment bought has included five X-ray units and dental equipment. The Health Minister, Uvais Magomedov has stated that standards are being raised as doctors become more efficient and at total of 17,000 people have been treated in Chechen hospitals since January 1, 3,500 of whom have been operated on.
