Executive Summary
Siemens Medical Solutions, which manufactures systems for diagnosis and healthcare equipment, has signed a joint venture agreement with Mindit Instruments to develop, manufacture and market 0.35 Tesla magnetic resonance equipment in China. Siemens will retain 75% of the new company, called Siemens Mindit Magnetic Resonance, and will supply the technical know-how and development and production expertise. Shenzhen-based Mindit, which specialises in the development, manufacture and sale of superconducting and permanent MRI systems, will contribute its expertise as a regional MRI systems manufacturer. The agreement has yet to be authorised by the Chinese authorities.
