Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) should be used across the National Health Service whenever needed to confirm the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (published on November 26 2003). So says the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), in collaboration with the National Co-ordinating Centre for Chronic Conditions, in guidance on the management of the condition in primary and secondary care.
