Artecel makes tissues from fat stem cells:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Artecel Sciences has developed a technique for isolating adult stem cells from a deposit of fat behind the knee cap, which it believes could potentially be grown into custom-made, replacement bone or cartilage tissue. The adipose-derived stromal cells, which can be removed from the knee using minimally invasive methods, will not cause adverse immune reactions or transmit disease when re-implanted into patients, said researchers from the Duke University Medical Center, Dallas, which collaborated with Durham, North Carolina-based Artecel on the project.
