Executive Summary
French concern over the lack of high-tech medical equipment has surfaced again because of anxieties over the quality of cancer care in the country. While the dwindling number of French cancer specialists, expected to drop from 900-1,000 now to just 500 by 2010, is the main concern at present, the outlook is increasingly worrying because of the concomitant lack of medical equipment (see Clinica No 982, p 5 and No 983, p 9) and investment in the latest, more effective technologies.
