Cancer and cardiorespiratory diseases accounted for almost three-quarters of all deaths in Spain in 2001, according to research published in a review of national statistics. 37.2% of all Spanish deaths last year were attributable to cardiovascular conditions, 25.7% were cancer-related and 10.6% were associated with respiratory conditions, El Pais said, reporting figures published by financial group La Caixa.
