Spain needs to urgently invest in medical technology - particularly diagnostics - in rural health centres if it is to guarantee equal access to health services for the nine million people who live in rural and semi-rural settings. So said the Spanish society for family and community medicine (semFYC) during the 6th congress of the World Organization of Family Doctors (Wonca), held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on September 24-27 2003.
