MDS Nordion to use Rad Source blood irradiation technology

Executive Summary

Radiology technology specialist MDS Nordion has licensed X-ray technology from irradiation company Rad Source Technologies of Boca Raton, Florida, to sell to smaller hospitals for the processing of blood for transfusion. MDS Nordion, which already provides gamma units for the higher volume centralised transfusion services, will now offer X-ray blood irradiators for in-house irradiation in hospitals with fewer than 400 beds.
