Executive Summary
A recently-published report by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA) on plasticisers in medical devices has concluded that there are a number of possible alternatives to DEHP (di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) plasticised PVC, which has been linked to potential health risks. However, as the report carried out only a limited evaluation of the substances, it stresses that "much more data are needed before DEHP can be seriously substituted in medical devices".
