Manchester, UK-based DxS, a genotyping services company, has licensed its Scorpions nucleic acid detection and genotyping system to German firm Minerva Biolabs, which will use it to develop a real-time diagnostic test for the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus. Berlin-based Minerva specialises in PCR-based molecular diagnostics. It already offers tests for legionella and mycoplasma using the technology, and has the rights to develop additional Scorpions-based tests to expand its respiratory panel.
