Danish medical device industry rejects sponsorship agreement

Executive Summary
An offer to sign up to an agreement concerning sponsoring for further education in Denmark put forward by the Danish Medical Association (Laegeforeningen) and the pharmaceutical industry association (Lif) has been rejected by the medical devices industry association, Medicoindustrien. It has, however, been adopted by the industry association for generic drugs (IGL), the association of pharmaceuticals and drugs wholesalers (Megros) and the association of parallel importers. Laegeforeningen believes that Medicoindustrien's refusal to co-operate will perpetuate the myth that doctors exert pressure on industry to pay for foreign business trips.
