Executive Summary
Brazil's haemotherapy services are subject to new accreditation, service and facility standards, following the publication of an official manual to support a national quality-assurance drive. The initiative of the Brazilian health surveillance agency (Anvisa), the national accreditation organisation (ONA) and the national haematology and haemotherapy society (SBHH), was launched in May 1998. It has met the national target to establish a quality-assurance framework in 2003.
