The Australian federal government has set aside Aus$7.2m ($4.3m) over the next 18 months to fund bowel cancer screening in the states of Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. The project will be centred around three pilot sites in Adelaide, Mackay and Melbourne, Mackay and Adelaide and some 60,000 people in the 55-74 age bracket will be sent self-diagnosis test kits.
