Device safety and reuse under European Parliament spotlight

Greek MEP Minerva Malliori has issued a motion for a resolution on the health implications of the Medical Devices Directive (MDD), including proposed action to ban single-use medical devices. Although this resolution, issued on her own initiative, will not be legally binding, it will bring medical device issues more directly under the European spotlight. The European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Policy (ENVI) will vote on the report on April 22-23, and then it will go to a European Parliament Plenary session in May for adoption.
