The UK's University of Edinburgh has been awarded a £5.5m ($9m) grant from the European Regional Development Fund to help establish the Edinburgh Biomedical Research Institute (EBRI). The EBRI will house "state-of-the-art" facilities for research in three key areas: inflammatory, reproductive and cardiovascular biology. The project, which remains £8m short of its £52m fundraising target, is due to be completed by mid-2005.
