The Irish health ministry has appointed Kevin Kelly, chairman of the Health Service Executive, as the body's interim chief executive officer. He takes up the new position on January 1, while a new CEO is appointed. The HSE Board has yet to appoint Mr Kelly's replacement. The announcement follows the publication on November 19 of the Health Bill 2004, which sets out the reforms that will put the HSE at the centre of healthcare policy-making.
