Executive Summary

Fairfield, Connecticut-based General Electric has named Sir William Castell as vice chairman of the board of directors. Sir William, also an executive officer and a member of the corporate executive office of GE, as well as president and CEO of GE healthcare, will be based in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, UK. He joined Amersham in 1989 as CEO, and was appointed president and CEO of General Electric in April 2004, following the completion of GE's acquisition of Amersham (see Clinica No 1106, p 17).
