Executive Summary
There is a need for injection materials and diagnostic and other supplies to support new vaccination campaigns in developing countries, says the WHO. It is currently running a campaign against meningitis in the sub-Saharan region. In countries such as Burkina Faso, diagnostics materials needed to perform rapid on-site monitoring of the W135 strain have proved crucial in bringing the disease under control over the last two years - in the 2002 outbreak some 13,000 people were infected.
