Executive Summary
UK venture capital firm MTI has invested in bone material specialist ApaTech, and the London-based company's original backer, 3i, has also reinvested. The latest £6.5m ($11.5m) investment is aimed at helping the company market its products globally; 3i's initial £3m funding in July 2001 enabled it to CE mark its ApaPore synthetic bone graft material and launch it in the UK and New Zealand. ApaTech intends to launch a second product, Pore-Si (a silicate-substituted apatite that could find applications in spinal fusion), later in 2004. The company was spun out of Queen Mary University of London.
