Executive Summary
China needs to invest in rapid HIV tests to identify and monitor the 840,000 citizens that are suspected to be carrying the disease. That was the opinion of David Ho, a US AIDS expert, when he met deputy health minister Wang Longde, earlier this month on a visit to China. At present only 7.4% of the population that is suspected of carrying the disease is registered and is being monitored, according to the Chinese People's Daily.
