Executive Summary
Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, has published a compilation of economic and social indicators, presenting a snapshot of the enlarged EU. The data show that there is a lower AIDS incidence rate in the "EU 25" than there is in the "EU 15". The number of GPs per 100,000 will not be radically different after the countries join on May 1: it changes from 363 per 100,000 pre-accession, to 348 per 100,000 post-accession. Poland has the least number of GPs, with 224 per 100,000. For more details, visit the Eurostat website at: http://europa.eu.int/comm/eurostat
