Capio Diagnostics aims to bolster its UK hospital activities with the acquisition of what it claims is the country's largest independent specialist laboratory. Independent Histopathology Services (London), which specialises in histopathology and cytopathology, will complement the company's radiology and imaging operations and two laboratory medicine units. Capio Diagnostics, part of the Gothenburg, Sweden-based Capio group, has operations in five countries and revenues of SKr1.2bn ($162m). Capio UK was recently named preferred bidder to operate a chain of 10 NHS diagnosis and treatment centres (see Clinica No 1097, p 7).
