Revised German medtech law to redefine term "business"

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The third revision of Germany's medical products law (MPG - Medizinproduktgesetz), which is due to come into force in early 2006, will expand the definition of the term "commercial concern/business" to ensure that clinics that undertake certain commercial operations are regulated in the same way as purely commercial concerns. So said the German health ministry's medical technology department head Matthias Neumann, speaking at a recent industry association conference organised by BVMed's conference branch.
