AMO cuts earnings outlook as rationalisation strategy picks up momentum

In a move to maximise its opportunities in the refractive surgical market, Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) has announced it is to accelerate its rationalisation strategy of eliminating all non-core cataract and eye care product lines and increase its spending on its refractive business. The firm now expects to conclude the process by the end of 2005, instead of the latter half of 2006, as originally planned.
