Executive Summary
The medical devices unit of the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is relocating at the end of this week from its Hannibal House address in Southeast London to the agency's head office (Market Towers, 1 Nine Elms Lane, London SW8 5NQ). It leaves behind, however, the Device Evaluation Service that it operates, in a move that is, at the very least, symbolic of the DES' prospective shift towards the procurement arena, and away from the regulatory (see Clinica No 1134, p 6).
