Agilent Technologies hopes to reach 10% of the microarray market by 2007, an undertaking that will be supported by its acquisition of Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Computational Biology, an expert in analysing gene regulation data generated by microarray experiments, writes Stefan Fritsch*. The annual microarray market is estimated by Instrumenta at $600m with an annual growth rate of 13-15%. Affymetrix still dominates with a market share of close to 70%.
