Uzbekistan is preparing to reform its national healthcare system, focusing on hospital modernisation, particularly in rural areas, and on improving maternal and child healthcare. A commission set up to co-ordinate the drafting of a "year of health" programme will also look at improving the provision of training on the use of modern medical technology in higher education institutions.
