China Medical Technologies, the Nasdaq-listed maker of IVD products and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) systems to treat cancer, has signed a deal to distribute HIFU systems in Japan. The Beijing-based company has agreed for Century Medical, a Japan-based medical device distribution subsidiary of Itochu Corporation, to exclusively market and distribute its tumour therapy systems once marketing authorisation has been obtained. China Medical chairman and CEO Xiaodong Wu said the company would also "explore other co-operation opportunities with Century Medical for medical device distribution in Japan".
