Executive Summary
Radiation therapy company TomoTherapy (Madison, Wisconsin) is to develop and distribute Integra Radionics' InterFix radiosurgery kit. The two companies have combined in a strategic alliance that sees TomoTherapy acquire a set of fixation products that has been adapted for use in stereotactic procedures that employ its own Hi-Art cancer treatment system. Plainsboro, New Jersey-based Integra, a subsidiary of Integra LifeSciences, said that the partnership will focus on developing methods of precise cranial immobilisation for radiosurgery. Stereotactic surgery is a minimally-invasive technique that uses a 3D set of co-ordinates to locate small targets inside the body, in procedures ranging from implantation to radiosurgery.
