This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Apollo Endosurgery (Austin, Texas) is accelerating the development of its natural orifice surgical products after raising $11.5m in a series A financing round. The round, which saw contributions from PTV Sciences, HIG Ventures and individual investors, allows Apollo to conduct US human trials for its NOTES (the acronym for endoluminal and translumenal surgical procedures) system. The technology allows surgeons to access the peritoneal cavity for both diagnostic and surgical treatments. According to Apollo, its devices carry out endoluminal and translumenal procedures with less pain, less sedation, and with a faster recovery time.
