Executive Summary
Sassari regional hospital, in Sardinia, Italy, has launched a study into how best to apply IT to quality-assurance systems in cardiology and oncology. In collaboration with IT systems specialist TechSana, of the Orangee group, the six-month project will "explore the "potential of high-tech IT systems for optimising the use of risk-management indicators, surveillance and adverse-event reporting", in line with regulatory protocols covering these issues. The hospital's cardiology and oncology departments last year handled 250 coronary interventions and 550 new patients, respectively.
