Thrombectomy shown to aid heart attack patients

Executive Summary

A recent study has suggested that Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Possis Medical's AngioJet thrombectomy treatment is beneficial in heart attack patients with large thrombus. The trial results show that when the AngioJet system is used to remove large thrombus before placement of a drug-eluting stent (DES), it is associated with significantly lower rates of death, repeat heart attack and stent thrombosis.
