Innovative Spinal Technologies has launched its Paramount VBR (vertebral body replacement) system onto the US market. The device, which received PMA clearance in January, is used in spine surgery. The Mansfield, Massachusetts firm claims the product spearheads a new approach in minimally invasive transforaminal implant delivery, with an innovative implant inserter design that "offers an unprecedented level of control and manoeuvrability for implant placement". The Paramount VBR technology can potentially allow faster procedures, reduced blood loss, less tissue trauma and scarring, less postoperative pain and shorter hospital stay.
