The UK's foundation hospitals sector regulator, Monitor, has approved the conversion of a further three NHS trusts, with effect from August 1. The Hertfordshire Partnership, Leeds Partnerships, and Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber are all mental health trusts, bringing the number in this specialism to 13. The 73 trusts now operating with the service-provision and investment freedoms that the foundation trust (FT) regime offers have a combined estimated annual income of £15.1bn ($31bn), according to Monitor.
