North American Scientific (NAS) has received US FDA 510(k) clearance to market its Batcam multi-probe ultrasound image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) system. The product features an updated colour Doppler abdominal ultrasound probe that enables IGRT for the liver, pancreas, prostate and for gynaecology conditions. Optional add-ons to the system include a biplanar rectal probe for prostate volume studies and prostate brachytherapy, and a wideband, linear probe for verifying accelerated partial breast irradiation brachytherapy devices. Batcam multi-probe is expected to be available for shipment early this month.
