Costa Rica is a step closer to launching a national cancer plan, with the aim of stemming an expected significant rise in incidence of the disease. Health ministry representatives have held a meeting of experts from the national cancer institute (CCC), medical colleges, the national social security fund, the Pan-American Health Organization and "private sector players" to discuss a draft of the programme.
