Executive Summary
The Australia New Zealand Biotechnology Partnership Fund (ANZBPF) has announced an increase in its funding of the biotech industry, from around NZ$2.4m (US$1.7m) per year (see Clinica No 1203, p 12) to NZ$5m for the next five years until 2012. "The benefits go both ways-local (New Zealand) firms are exposed to a larger sphere of ideas and creativity, and Australian companies know they don't have to partner with Asian or US firms to achieve results," said New Zealand's economic development minister, Trevor Mallard.
